About the aquatics center SSE

BerlinSwim 2016 swimming hall

BerlinSwim will take place in the SSE (Schwimm- und Sprunghalle im Europasportpark). This architecturally impressive aquatics center was conceptualized in preparation for Berlin’s Olympic bid in 2000, and was opened to the public in 1999. Together with the Velodrom the aquatics center has become a new attraction in Berlin with olympic capacity and offers the optimal training center for competition sport athletes.

Records are often broken at the SSE during large competitions. For example, on August 31, the FINA World Cup will take place in the SSE just two weeks after the 2016 Olympics.

The competition pool measures 50m x 25m, alongside a diving pool and is equipped with a sound system for synchronized swimming. During the short course season, in which BerlinSwim occurs, the pool will be divided into two 25m x 25m sections. The competition will take place in one section and the other will be used for warm-up and warm-down.
